Bishop Walsh Catholic School are fundraising to take twenty seven Sixth Form pupils to Lourdes, in the South of France, at the end of May. They will be travelling with the Birmingham Archdiocesan pilgrimage. This year the theme of the pilgrimage is ‘Merciful like the Father’ – the theme of the Year of Mercy.
The student pilgrims’ main role is to work with the sick and handicapped, to make sure they are comfortable, and to accompany them to the Masses and Services.
The pilgrimage gives them the chance to offer this service, and also the valuable opportunity to experience the Church gathered in all its variety at the shrine of Lourdes.
The cost of taking the students is about £12,000. They have themselves been raising funds in all sorts of creative ways, but still have some way to go!
Our parish is trying to help them make the total they need. A retiring collection was taken at all Masses this weekend.
If you missed that, or wish to make an addition donation you can
- place it in a sealed envelope marked Bishop Walsh Lourdes collection and put it in the regular Sunday collection at any time
- or make the donation direct to Bishop Walsh school. For full details of how to do this please ring the school on 121 351 3215 or email email@example.com
Another way of supporting the pilgrims is by treating yourself to an A3 (297x420mm) watercolour print of the Rosary Basilica in Lourdes by the artist Ian Fennelly. £30 each (unframed).
To buy a copy of this print please ring Bishop Walsh School Tel: 0121 351 3215 (Ext 2240) or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for any help that you are able to give.
