Mask, AthensThe Collect on Sunday, the 15th In Ordinary time takes for granted that not all are as we seem.

Christ was not as he seemed – or at least not as he seemed to many.

He seemed to most ‘a man’. And to many a sinner. And now, in faith, we see him as fully human, fully divine, the incarnate Son of God.

We may see our selves in a good light. Others too may do so. But does the light reveal or hide the truth – from us, from them?

On Sunday we prayed for righteousness for ourselves and all Christians, that we may not betray Christ.

O God, who show the light of your truth
to those who go astray,
so that they may return to the right path,
give all who for the faith they profess
are accounted Christians
the grace to reject whatever is contrary to…
