Why not have a go at one or more of the 2017 Knights of St Columba Competitions. There are three Competitions.
Each is open to all young people 12 to 18 years of age.
National Essay Writing Competition 2017
Submit an essay based on a theme of your own choice which expresses an appreciation of faith, social responsibility and requirements of good citizenship.
The essay should be of a minimum of 1,400 to a maximum of approximately 1,600 words, and may be typed or handwritten in ink.
National Easter Season Painting Competition 2017
Entries should depict an Easter scene – any event between the Last Supper and Pentecost.
Entries are to be submitted, sized A4 or A3, on paper or card of quality and colour of the entrants’ choice.
National Prayer Competition 2017
The theme set for the prayer is “A Prayer to Our Lady in this Centenary Year of Her Apparitions in Fatima, Seeking Her Intercessions on Behalf of all Mankind and Conversion of Sinners”
The prayer should be no longer than three hundred words.
The following criteria will be considered in the final judging of the entries: Spiritual content, composition, correct use of the English language.
Entries to each competition will be judged in two categories – entries from those in Year Groups 7, 8, 9, (say 12 to 14 years of age). 2) and Year Groups: 10, 11, 12, and 13, (say 15 to 18 years of age). There are four prizes in each competition.
