Tomorrow is the feast of St John Bosco, a patron saint for teachers.
Today, during our parish’s weekly hour of prayer for vocations, we will pray particular for teachers and catechists and all who share in the work of helping others to learn and mature.
If you are free between 3 and 4 come and join us in the church as we pray the Rosary and before the Blessed Sacrament. And if you can’t please join with us in prayer for vocations and especially for educators in your own time and place.
You might like to use the following prayer, based on a text by David B Collins.
God and Father of all,
who from the beginning came to bring light and truth to humankind,
by the Word,
grant to those who deal with words and images,
such a reverence for you
that through careful and honest work
they may keep the coinage of their language sound.
Give them humility to realise that they are called,
not to be perfect but to be clear,
not to be infallible but fair.
Direct those who in this our generation speak where many listen,
who write what many read,
and show what many see,
that they may do their part in making
the heart of our people wise,
its mind sound,
and its will righteous.
