At Mass today we remembered in prayer again those who died in the fire in North Kensington last week, and we prayed also for the Muslims targeted in the attack in Finsbury Park last night.
During the Mass we used a Eucharistic Prayer that asks God to help the Church in times of trial to be ready to serve those in need, after the example of Christ.
Bring your Church, O Lord,
to perfect faith and charity,
together with Francis. our Pope and Bernard. our Bishop,
with all Bishops, Priests and Deacons,
and the entire people you have made your own.
Open our eyes
to the needs of our brothers and sisters;
inspire in us words and actions
to comfort those who labour and are burdened.
Make us serve them truly,
after the example of Christ and at his command.
And may your Church stand as a living witness
to truth and freedom,
to peace and justice,
that all people may be raised up to a new hope.
Our world is too often marred by injustice, by prejudice and hate. Its peoples are also regularly hampered by fear. In Christ may we find freedom to love our brothers and sisters as he did…
