As you may know the ‘Carpenter’s Arms’ was the former church of the parish of St Nicholas, in Boldmere.
After our new and current church was built on Jockey Road, the former church was converted into a parish hall.
For almost 25 years the hall has been leased by the parish to the Sutton Central Churches Trust who put a great deal of hard work and effort into upgrading the premises and running it as a community centre.
Recently that Trust has surrendered the lease on the property, so it has reverted to the parish.
For the forseeable future, the intention is that things will continue pretty muchas they are.
- Kaye O’Keefe will be employed by the parish, and continue as Hall Manager.
- Our hiring rates remain unchanged.
- And our current lettings, regular and one-offs remain in place.
Over the coming months there will be opportunities for us to consider as a parish, and with the Centre’s users, how we might make still better use of the Centre both for the good of the wider community, and for our development as a parish called to grow in love and service of God and neighbour.
Please keep this new parish work in your prayers!
