The Presidents of Churches Together in England (including Cardinal Vincent) have issued the following statement encouraging Christians to join in a period of prayer leading up to the Coronation:
The forthcoming Coronation of King Charles III is a moment of great importance and joy for this nation. As Presidents of CTE, we invite Christians from all traditions to join together in a period of daily prayer, for both the King and the nation, from Easter Day through to 6 May.
a) A Triduum of Prayer (from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th May) when we are encouraged to pray for the King as he assumes the fulness of his responsibility.
b) On Friday evening 5th May, a Mass for the intentions of the King will celebrated.
c) On Sunday 7th May, the day after the Coronation, a Prayer of Intercession for the King will be included in the Prayer of the Faithful and the National Anthem will be sung at the end of Mass.
A booklet of prayers to be prayed each day from Easter Sunday until the day of King Charles’ coronation has been produced.
Copies are available in the church – price £1.00
